Northport Village has one of the quirkiest holiday traditions on Long Island: the annual Lighting of the Leg Lamp, a giant replica of the “major award” from the movie A Christmas Story. Hosted by Firefly Artists on Main Street, it draws a fun, nostalgic crowd every year. Northport itself is a picture-perfect harbor village and a lovely place for an evening stroll.
The lighting has traditionally been held the Sunday after Thanksgiving around 6 p.m., so expect November 29, 2026.

About Northport Village
Northport is a picturesque harbor village on Long Island’s North Shore, with a Main Street of independent shops, restaurants and the John W.
