Westbury House, a 1906 Charles II-style mansion surrounded by formal gardens, is one of the grandest holiday visits on Long Island. Each December, Old Westbury Gardens decorates the house’s rooms with trees, garlands and mantel displays for Christmas at Westbury House, with Santa on hand for photos, cookies and cider, and holiday concerts on select days.
In 2025 it ran on December weekends (December 6–7, 13–14 and 20–21), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect a similar schedule in December 2026.

What to Expect
The decorations change each year, but the formal rooms always look spectacular with towering trees and fresh greenery. Santa is usually in one of the grand rooms, so it’s a far more elegant photo than at the mall. Concerts by school choirs and local ensembles fill some afternoons.

About Old Westbury Gardens
Old Westbury Gardens was the estate of John S. Phipps, completed in 1906, and is now a museum and garden open to the public. Its English-style mansion, Westbury House, is filled with period furniture and art, surrounded by 200 acres of formal gardens, woodlands and lakes. The grounds have appeared in many films.
